The Hostel Sra. Do Espinheiro Hotel ***, is located 5km from Seia on the road connecting this town to the highest point of Serra da Estrela. It is located on one of the slopes of the covão do Urso (Bear’s lair) on the northern slope of the Serra da Estrela mountain range, with a stunning and unimaginable landscape over the immensity of the valley, gladiated by the Mondego River.
The magic of its landscape prompts an unprecedented visit.
The wide range of tourist facilities and its privileged location on the road network (with connection to IP3, IP5 and EN17) define Seia as the starting point for discovering not only the county but also the entire Serra da Estrela Tourism Region, one of the most important tourist destinations in the interior of Portugal. A significant part of Seia County lies within the limits of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. Portugal’s highest mountain range marks the transition between north and south in terms of climate, vegetation, and human occupation. Like all unique spaces of enormous beauty, it is an area of great ecological sensitivity, possessing a bio-genetic, cultural, and landscape heritage that is unique in our country.
On the upper level of the mountain the numerous ponds and temporary puddles of glacial origin add a particular charm to the landscape. At the foot of the mountain, woodlands and agricultural fields occupied by olive groves, vineyards, cornfields, and pastures predominate.
